RECRO Remanufactured Automatic Transmission Warranty
RECRO warrants its remanufactured automatic transmissions against defects in materials and workmanship, subject to the following Warranty Terms.
Warranty Coverage
The warranty applies only to the remanufactured transmission supplied by RECRO. It does not cover the electronic part of the mechatronic unit (ECU/TCM) or other electrical components, including speed sensors, gear selector position sensors, and similar electronic components.
Warranty Period
The applicable warranty period depends on the transmission model and is specified on the Invoice and Warranty Certificate.
- 12 months / 50,000 km (whichever occurs first); or
- 24 months / 100,000 km (whichever occurs first).
The warranty begins on the date the transmission is dispatched from RECRO.
Transfer of Warranty
This warranty is valid only for the person or company named on the Warranty Certificate.
The warranty may be transferred to a subsequent owner, provided RECRO is notified by email at office@recro.eu within 7 days of the change of ownership.
Warranty Exclusions
This warranty does not cover damage resulting from:
- Incorrect, insufficient, excessive or contaminated transmission fluid, or the use of fluid that does not meet the required specification.
- Contamination by water, glycol/antifreeze, sand, salt, or other foreign material.
- Engine software modifications, including chip tuning or any software increasing engine output.
- Overloading, negligence, accident damage, failure to comply with the maintenance requirements, or the installation of parts not supplied by RECRO.
- Incorrect installation or failure to follow the vehicle manufacturer's (OEM) installation procedures.
- Malfunction of external control systems, including electronic control modules, sensors, wiring or ABS systems.
- Defective external components, including transmission coolers, cooling fans, cooling system components, dual-mass flywheels, engine or transmission mounts, and worn or misaligned driveshaft components.
- Special vehicle use, including towing.
- Normal wear and tear
This warranty does not cover potential towing costs, rental vehicles, fluids, inconvenience, loss of time, commercial loss, property damage, personal injury, or any other accidental or consequential loss or damage.
If a transmission malfunction is suspected, the customer must submit a written warranty claim to RECRO before any repair is carried out.
Warranty work will be performed by RECRO or a repairer designated by RECRO.
RECRO reserves the right to inspect the allegedly defective transmission before determining warranty eligibility.
If a replacement transmission is approved, the defective transmission must be returned to RECRO before a replacement unit is supplied.
The customer is responsible for all shipping costs related to returning the transmission or its components to RECRO.
Warranty claims will not be accepted while the Invoice for the transmission or any related services remains unpaid.
Warranty Expiration
The warranty expires at the end of the applicable warranty period.
Any repair or replacement carried out under this warranty does not extend the original warranty period.
Maintenance Requirements
To maintain warranty validity, the customer must:
- Regularly inspect the transmission for leaks and check the transmission fluid level where applicable.
- Maintain the transmission cooling system in good working order.
- Have transmission maintenance performed by RECRO or an OEM-authorized service center.
- Replace the transmission fluid at intervals not exceeding 60,000 km.
- Contact RECRO immediately if a transmission malfunction or fluid leak is detected.
- Obtain RECRO's approval before removing, disassembling or repairing the transmission. Unauthorized removal, disassembly or repair will void this warranty.
